Sunday bloody Sunday

Sunday is here again. It's a funny day is Sunday, the day before you go back to work, the day you get to eat a big roast dinner if your lucky and the last day to chill out and read the papers.

It used to be a real day of rest a few years ago when shops where not open and you only had three channels on the telly to watch, was there rubbish on the telly then? I am not sure. The Sunday afternoon film used to keep us amused it would always be cowboys and Indians or a war film with action that did not include 3kilos of fresh liver being splattered across the screen.

Violence on films was left more for the viewer to interpret using your own imagination. These days it seem your not allowed to use your imagination it has to be as graphic as possible so you can sit there and just stare brain dead at the screen and then, as the young of today seem to do, go out at night get tanked up on cheap cider and take on the world and act out what they have seen without a second thought to what they are doing or the consequences of it, l wonder how they would feel if it where their mother, father, sibling taken on by a gang and left for dead.

Trouble is l fear they have no feelings and it would just go on without a second thought.

God l must be feeling a bit down on the young today, is it because they always get home from a night out just as l have fallen asleep and wake me up by putting the light on. Then they always seem to bring a whole herd of elephants up the stairs to bed with them what was the point of those ballet lessons when now they are so heavy footed the house shakes when they walk. Then the next morning you say something …..like…did you have a good night? and you just get a grunt directed in your direction ‘ sorry didn’t quite catch that’ ….’ohhhh your always checking up on me’…….here we go another great day with the kids…….
